I would love the chance to share the beauty of my country with you while we tour to catch some waves. I offer private or group lessons, lessons for any age 5 to 95. No previous experience required, just an open mind and some patience.

My name is Mauricio Cruz Brenes. I've been surfing for over 25 years and teaching surf lessons for over 15 years. I'm costarican and grew up in the city but once I caught my first wave I knew the beach was where my life would be, so I moved to Santa Teresa 20 years ago following my dream. I have a passion for surf that keeps me going back for more everyday and I love sharing this passion through teaching and coaching. I am bilingual (English & Spanish) and certified by the International Surf Association.
Sharing my knowledge about surfing --how to read the waves, catch them and be safe in the water is- in my opinion, all part of the surf adventure. I'll also let you in on where to find local great eats and where to seek adventure.
My team and I are dedicated professionals and because of that I have maintained long-standing relationships with highly recognized hotels and private accommodations. My goals as an instructor are to assist anyone -children aged 5 to adults of 95 years to learn, improve and connect with the ocean and have fun pushing their limits. I will help you create a strong base in surfing if you are a beginner that will point you in the right direction to help you achieve your goals. As an intermediate you will be guided and coached in the ocean to help you enhance your surfing.
